He did it! Our official ward comedian, Ryan Hamilton, made it into the finals of Last Comic Standing! Only thirty-something were chosen from the thousands who auditioned in England, Canada, Australia, and the US.
He was smart to go with his speed dating bit. "Emotional Whack-a-Mole" is brilliant. Brilliant!
At Farrah's request, here he is performing. As funny as Sinbad, circa 1992? You, America, shall be the judge.

He's my cousin! Go Ryan!!! Wheeee!
Funny dude -- had me laughing turkey bits all over my neighbors at the ward Christmas dinner-slash-talent-show. Is wittiness a family trait?
There are now three Rachels who've commented on this blog. I love the name Rachel, so maybe I'm unconsiously drawing you all to me?
I laughed A LOT at this guy. Plus, I was excited for him simply because I knew he was Rachel's cousin. I'll definitely vote for him!
I'm not a Rachel. Sorry! :-) But I'd like to know more about anyone who can keep it clean and make us all laugh. Very therapeutic, is laughter. So when's he on TV, or do we have to go to the Provo show to hear him?
Anne (also one of my favorite names):
I really don't know. The show airs every Wednesday night on NBC and the "semifinals" begin this week. However, this is the first season I've watched the show, so I don't know how it works. Do they really pit all the semifinalists against each other in a single 1-hour episode? My guess is no, in which case you might tune in for a week or two without seeing him again.
Maybe Rachel knows?
As for other ways to see him -- I guess you could hire him to do your next birthday party. :) Google "Ryan Hamilton" and you'll find his webpage. It also has a tour schedule and video clips.
I've been watching that show, so I'll keep my eye out for him.
I think they each get like 2 minutes for their stand-up, and as contestants are eliminated, the remainder get longer sets. Something along those lines, anyway.
I went to a taping of Last Comic Standing once, and they had only 3 comics perform for the entire taping -although I think it was a show for the finals, so there weren't that many left. Gosh that was forever ago.
thanks for the link. cool
Maybe you could post a clip of this funny guy.
I am a skeptic. I believe all humor comes from vulgarity and a lot of crude comments about women's body parts. There is no way this guy can win unless he's Simbad and we're in 1992.
Ah, Sinbad. Highest butt ever.
